Weighted GPA Calculation Formula
Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed by dividing total quality points by the sum of total credit hours across all courses.
For example, if you take a 4-credit course with an A (4.0 points = 16 quality points) and a 3-credit course with a B (3.0 points = 9 quality points), your total quality points are 25 and total credits are 7. GPA = 25 / 7 = 3.57.
| Letter Grade | Percent Equivalent | Grade Points (4.0 Scale) |
|---|---|---|
| A+ / A | 93% – 100% | 4.00 |
| A- | 90% – 92% | 3.70 |
| B+ | 87% – 89% | 3.30 |
| B | 83% – 86% | 3.00 |
| B- | 80% – 82% | 2.70 |
| C+ | 77% – 79% | 2.30 |
| C | 73% – 76% | 2.00 |
| D | 65% – 69% | 1.00 |
| F | Below 65% | 0.00 |

Pro Tips for Best Results
- Focus high effort on higher-credit courses: an A in a 4-credit lab will influence your GPA more than an A in a 1-credit seminar.
- Check if your institution uses unweighted 4.0 or weighted 5.0 (for AP/Honors courses).
- Retaking a course can significantly improve your GPA if your university allows grade replacement.
